I think I can, I think I can

I'm getting so excited for this 10k race on Saturday!! I wasn't sure how training would go, since I decided to do this race last Friday, but I'm feeling really good about it. Anyone who wants to run with me, please do! Register here. I ran a little over 5 miles yesterday, with my cute supportive husband taking the slowest bike ride of his life behind me! But he's so excited about his new road bike, it's adorable. He had a mountain bike but the gear wheel (or whatever it's called) busted so he returned it. He was going to get the same bike, but then saw this awesome road bike for even less than his mountain bike was! He really wants to do a sprint triathlon at the end of this summer, so a road bike would be better for him anyway. But our run/ride was really fun, even though I was going uber-slow!

Oh, and, cross your fingers, I rode my bike to work today and so far don't have a flat! But, I consequently have helmet hair. You win some, you lose some.

But seriously, come run with me. Free massages and Magleby's breakfast afterwards! That's worth the registration fee alone! Anyone know of a way to help hip pain while running?

Last night Heidi came over and we watched "Confessions of a Shopaholic." A bit ridiculous, a lot funny. Loved it. AND, I got Memorial Day off from work! Life is so good!

Buck up

I feel like a foolish girl today. I've been sad for weeks, even maybe months, in the back of my mind. Just knowing that June 6th would come sometimes brought me to tears-- that's the day Tyler is leaving for his internship in Houston! I will be working here in Utah for the remainder of the summer, so we'll be apart. But the more I thought about it today, the more I realized how lucky I am. I have a husband who works so hard, and that has opened amazing opportunities for him this summer! He won't be gone more than 8 weeks, and he'll be living with his family during that time. I could call him 20 times a day if I wanted to! And probably will, let's be honest. And, most importantly, he'll be safe. He's not going off to battle, unless you count the battle against his calculator. :) What more could a girl ask for? So go ahead, honey. I support you. For real this time.

Thinking out loud

Today is National Ride Your Bike to Work Day. AND I have a flat tire.

I really really really want to go camping, but the high tomorrow is going to be 50 degrees with rain/snow. No thank you.

There is just too much to do before Tyler leaves! Our goal to visit all of the temples in Utah this year is going to be a tough one to complete.

Sometimes when I'm blog-stalking, I get really sad that people haven't posted in a while. But, I feel a little bit hypocritical when I haven't posted in a while myself. So, I'm posting more to keep myself in the clear. :)

I have two books in my purse that I am supposed to finish by June 1. Not quite sure how that's going to happen... I just might have to return one without reading it! Sad.

I'm super-glad that it's Friday, though I'm not sure what we're doing this weekend.

Meant to be

I came home from work today feeling whiney. Not really sure why-- it was a good day, and I was excited to come home and see my Ty. But once I got home, I just wanted to melt into his arms and do nothing else. I whined for a while about how I needed to go running, wanted to quit my job and go to Houston with him, should have gone to the grocery store, etc. You know, everything under the sun, no matter how ridiculous. He could have reacted SO many other ways... but he got up and made mac and cheese and frozen chicken for dinner. We turned on Nacho Libre and laughed our heads off, til he fell asleep with his head in my lap. What a sweetheart-- I am so lucky to have him in my life. He puts up with so much from me! He is the best man I know, and I love him so much!

Bike riding, helmet wearing, and other thoughts

I went on two bike rides on my new bike before getting a flat! I did my best to avoid anything sparkly or leafy in case of glass or stickers, but I suppose it wasn't good enough! Bummer. I had ridden my bike to work on a Saturday to help with a project and it was flat by the time I was ready to go home. But since that day, I've been thinking about something... and maybe you can help me with the answer.

What's your policy on wearing a helmet?

My cute husband insisted that we both get one. If I had to get a helmet, at least I got one that matched my bike! The two times I have ridden the bike, I have worn the helmet. I look like a fool in my helmet. But the thing is, I know it's safe to wear it, and when I see other people wearing a helmet while riding their bikes, I {rarely} think, "Gosh, that person looks like an idiot in that helmet." Is that just me? Do you wear a helmet?

Tyler and I tried to hike Stewart Falls on Saturday... and we failed. I didn't know how to get there apparently. It was quite a bummer. So we pulled over and asked for directions, and then found that there's a $5 fee/car to park while you hike. What the?!? Since when is there a fee to go hiking? Can we not enjoy the outdoors free of charge? Oh well. Since we didn't have cash, we were forced to turn back. Instead, we tried to walk up to Bridal Veil Falls and at least get a good jog in running past it a few times. But no! There was construction up the path about half a mile from the parking lot! Major bummer. So we're definitely planning on going to Stewart Falls again, this time with cash handy.

I've been thinking about some summer goals. Here's what I've come up with so far:

-Run a half marathon {I'm kicking it off by running the Orem Memorial Day 10k on the 29th! Come run with me!}
-Learn to french braid, specifically my own hair. I think I'm the last girl on the planet who doesn't have this skill.
-Catch up on printing out my blog posts into a book.
-Read all of Jane Austen's books... I have never read ANY. I think I'm also the only female on the planet not to have done this.

It'll be a fun and busy summer... if the weather ever cooperates!

Funny things heard in Primary

We love our new calling teaching the CTR 5 class! Our kids are adorable and we're having a blast. Kids say the darndest things...

-After a talk and scripture on repentance in Sharing Time, the chorister says, "We're going to have a lesson on something we've been talking about for a few minutes. Anyone know what it is?" Cute little girl in our class shouts, "BABIES!" It was also really funny when the chorister says, "That's close!"

-Yesterday our lesson was on the Priesthood and how it can help us. We showed them some pictures of our wedding day and told about how a priesthood holder sealed us in the temple. There was a picture of us kissing, and the other girl in our class giggles and says, "I know what you're doing!"

-Sharing time yesterday was on baptism and the covenants we make with Heavenly Father. The chorister had letters up on the board, spelling on baptism, but scrambled. All of a sudden the little boy in our class screams "PEE!!!" And we all laughed. Then we realized that he saw the letter P on the board. Still really funny.

-During our lesson on the priesthood, we talked about how boys get the Aaronic priesthood when they turn twelve. Little girl #1 says, "I'll turn 12 someday, after I'm 11."

They are the cutest kids, and we're so lucky to get to be with them every Sunday!

All eat and no work out makes Camille a fat girl

The amount of times we've gone out to eat this week has been ridiculous! Monday we went to Cafe Rio with Heidi, Randall, Crystal, and some of the Taylor family visiting from Houston. It was really yummy and we were there til after 10 just talking! So fun.

Tuesday was Tyler's birthday! So we used our last wedding gift card and went to Outback Steakhouse. And then of course had ice cream afterward! I found it so funny and cute that Tyler got a burger and fries, and I got steak and potatoes. My tastes have definitely evolved/matured! :) I used to be SUCH a picky eater.

Wednesday was the one day we ate at home, but I had a cheese quesadilla dipped in my leftover ranch from Rio. Easy on the calories, Cam! And of course, we had more ice cream. No gym or running again! By the way, Heidi opened her mission call on Wednesday! She will be serving in the Missouri, Independence mission at the Visitor's Center! We are so excited for her and know she's going to be a great missionary/tour guide. We all practiced walking backwards and pointing out the exits. :) I made scotcheroos for the little party-- my favorite.

Yesterday, the cycle was somewhat broken-- we played tennis! We played with Adam and Aubrey, along with two guys from Adam and Ty's accounting class last year. Tyler and I played a singles set, then played a full match with the Wadsworths, boys against girls. Unfortunately, the guys won again! But we'll blame it on the cold and wind. :) Ty and I ruined the somewhat good workout by going to Taco Bell before watching Prison Break and the Wadsworth's apartment. We love being with them! Now, clap for me for not having ice cream last night, but not too hard-- I did eat a scotcheroo right before bed!

Tonight's dinner plans: Tucano's! Tyler got that free meal for his birthday, and Randall's birthday is this month too, so we're going with Randall and Crystal to celebrate both their birthdays and use the coupons. And of course, no workout today. Just "Minute to Win It" games!

Tomorrow I've got to get my butt in gear. And not eat.

Some things I have decided

-If we don't hit 75 degrees by Sunday, I'm going to Florida.

-I'm going to learn to crochet. Those headbands at Tai Pan sent me over the fence of decision and I want one bad enough to learn!

-Spending money on other people is way more fun than spending it on yourself. Unless, of course, the money is spent on food.

-Scary movies really are NOT for me. Thank goodness I have a strong husband who makes me feel so safe!

-Blue is the best Otter Pop flavor, even when it's snowing and cold outside.

To my hubby, on his birthday

**Dang! He is so good-looking!**

Happy birthday Tyler! Today is a great day because it means that you were born, and that I got the chance to meet you and know you and love you! I am so lucky that I get to spend forever with you! Seriously, the luckiest and most blessed girl in the world. I hope today is a great day for you! I can't wait to celebrate by going to Outback Steakhouse and making all the restaurant people sing to you. Your face will turn red but you will keep that adorable smile on your face and be a good sport about it. Then we will go home and probably finish off that Bunny Tracks ice cream... YUM! Then I'll thank my Heavenly Father for another day with you, and fall asleep in your arms.

23 years old...
