Another day, another park

We finally checked out the new park in the neighborhood near us. The boys and I actually found it on accident one day and ended up playing for quite a while. I took a bunch of pictures so we could show Millie how cool it was! It's such a fun park.

We took Millie there a day or two later and then decided we had to go back again and take Dad this time. It was a fun FHE activity.

Max actually requested 3 different pictures from on top of these logs. He just kills me with cuteness sometimes!

Harvey has spent lots of time on the floor learning to crawl lately! I love this stage!

We had Umpa over for dinner one night while Tyler was out of town, as well as Monka. He stayed for family night and I loved hearing him teach my kids the same way he taught me growing up.

Max dresses himself but I often do a cheek check for him to make sure everything is on all the way!

Millie gets so excited when a new Friend magazine comes in the mail! She also has started to keep the old ones in her room. She loves them.

I did some more sewing while Tyler was out of town and laughed when I inserted the sleeve inside out! Whoops.

We went to a park we don't get to often and the kids were so excited about the merry go round. Also, Max loves to match Millie. Sunglasses and rain boots were the cool thing that day.

We met Monka at the outlet mall one day. Max cracked me up when he grabbed the mannequin's hand and said, "This is my mom now." Because I laughed he now does it in every store we enter! Such a tease. I love him.

Our Friday walks/rides around the lake are less frequent these days since school is out. We still go sometimes though. Max wanted to run with me and it was so cute. Didn't last long, but it was still cute.

Breakfast food is still a favorite in our house, and we've kept the tradition of eating at the counter when I make waffles.

FHE in the city

We picked Tyler up from work on Friday and stayed near his office for a fun family night. Millie loved his office building - she said to me, "Mom, this is the coolest place I've ever been!" And Max loved Daddy's co-workers after they gave him fruit snacks. 

The kids have been wanting to see the water wall since we drove by it during the summer, so we went over there before it got dark.

The kids were all smiles as long as we didn't get close to the water wall. They did not enjoy the loud noise or getting wet.

The building right by the waterwall is super tall and looking at it was weird because the clouds were moving and it made you feel like either you are falling or the building is falling. After looking for a minute, Millie yells, "What is happening?!?" It was so funny.

We had parked in the Galleria garage, so we walked around the mall for a bit. We watched ice skaters and marveled at the 3-story Christmas tree. We attempted to eat at Rainforest Cafe, but the kids were so freaked out by the animals, so we didn't stay longer than 2 minutes! So instead Tyler and I ate Mod Pizza instead. I was happy that we had offered to take the kids to (what we thought would be) a fun place for them, but even happier that we got to eat what we wanted. Haha funny how it works out sometimes.

Before heading home we drove around a really nice neighborhood near Tyler's office. They go all out with Christmas lights and decorations and it's always fun to see.

It was my favorite part of the evening. Millie and Max were just bursting with happiness and excitement! Christmas is so magical.

Halloween fun

I can't believe October is already halfway over!

I decided this year I want to have a coordinated family costume. I figure we can only require this for so long - next year I'm sure both kids will want to choose their own costumes! So we are going with Little Red Riding Hood. 

My mom made the hood and I made the skirt.

Max was a little more complicated. Enter Pinterest! And Hobby Lobby. Who knew they sell fur?? I was planning to use felt but the fur was just too good.

Plot twist: he HATES it.

Eyeing it from afar

Since then we do a little therapy every so often. We put on the costume, look in the mirror, talk about how cool it is, etc. I am determined!!

Last week for FHE we carved pumpkins! This tradition will be much more fun when the kids actually help. But we had fun. First time in our adult life to do this, not sure why we waited so long!!

(I would not touch that stuff if you paid me. Hence the gloves.)

Guess we should have waited til we were a bit closer to Halloween. This humidity is crazy! Our pumpkins a week later:

First date FHE

Tyler's and my first date was 7 years ago last week! It happened to fall on a Friday, which is when we have FHE. Tyler tells Millie the story of our first date all the time so we thought it would be fun to include them in re-living it, minus the Institute class and the failed attempt at playing tennis. Basically, we just went out for ice cream.

I can't believe it has been 7 years. It feels so recent but at the same time I can't always remember life before our hooligans! I'm pretty lucky to have those 3.

Temple FHE

We took the kids to the temple for family night last week. We had done this back in February, but it was so brief and dark that we thought it would be fun to do it again.

On the way we talked about the temple and what we do there and why it is so important. The Friend this month has lots of stories about the temple so we read those too.

Yes, I absolutely wore my slippers on temple grounds. Didn't realize it until we were halfway there.

"If you let your children touch the temple it will touch them." Not sure who said it, but I believe it.

We topped it off with ice cream cones and it was a pretty great FHE!

We are so thankful for temples and that we have one so close by.
