Little things

These are in random order! Millie often takes the elastics out of her hair at school. Not sure why I bother doing it sometimes.

She brought home this paper from school recently. I'm guessing she had watched a Barbie movie or something before writing that!

I did a 5K with some friends recently, The Great Inflatable Race. There were inflatables every so often - it was really fun! The inflatables broke it up quite a bit and made the actual running feel so short. However, I was SO tired later that day. All that bouncing around took more out of me than I realized! It was a fun morning with fun people.

Millie, enjoying another sunset.

1 year well check for Harvey.

The boy is over 90% in everything!

We were waiting for tithing settlement and choir practice after church so the kids were getting bored. They somehow found it entertaining to hold the doors open for a good 10 minutes.

Playing near the bus stop instead of going inside after school.

Got this from Tyler's phone. Just us at Wal-Mart on a Saturday afternoon. I was obviously looking glamorous and the kids were enjoying free cake, I think for Veteran's Day. Between that and ginger snap samples Max kept saying, "This is the best day ever!" He's easy to please.

A sad attempt at flying our kite. Turns out it's possible to have too much wind to fly a kite.

Millie still loves to color and draw and lately likes to look up step-by-step instructions on the iPad.

A rare morning where we actually have time to play for a few minutes before heading to the bus stop. I didn't notice where Millie was until after I took the pic and thought it was pretty funny.

Oh these boys! Max sometimes goes in there when Harvey wakes up and they play together. So cute.

Bubble Run

On Saturday (5/23) I ran the Bubble Run! Aaaand so did the rest of Houston. Just kidding, but there were 20,000 runners! It was slightly insane! They had "waves" of people starting every 10 minutes or so. Sharon and I had to wait over an hour just to start. There were different colored bubble bogs every kilometer, so it was wet and messy fun. They made up a course around the NRG stadium parking lot so there were lots of loops, which meant lots of opportunities for people to cut off distance and skip to the bubble bogs. It was not a race full of actual runners, which was a little frustrating at times. In fact, when I got to the end, I had a hard time reaching the finish line because there was a wall of people stopped just before the finish taking selfies. Really, people?? I was a just a little bothered. They should re-name it a social media walk instead of a run. I felt badly that Tyler and the kids came to watch - it was a hot morning and they had to wait for a long time! It made for a crazy day but they were so sweet to come.

Can you spot us?

This was at the end of the bubble bog at the starting line - they were foamy bubbles that were pretty fun to play with!

Lately

Max is obsessed with animals. He growls at pretty much all of them. Can't wait to take this kid to the zoo!

New running shoes after 5 years of wearing my last pair! It was time!

Learning to write. We'll need to work on that pencil form. She has since learned E and F, and our driveway is covered in chalk letters! This is such a fun age.

Millie loves to do her "nakeup" and gives herself a unibrow every time!

Max can often be found carrying one or two shoes. He loves them. He also loves this pillow and will stop and snuggle/wrestle it whenever he finds it.

Gretchen brought me this lovely gift on Tuesday! I'm pretty sure I screamed a little bit when she showed it to me. It feels a little bit ridiculous to be so crazy over a CD like I'm a tween or something, but seriously I love it. I've been waiting for Josh to do an album like this since his first album when I was in jr. high.

Gigi also brought some fun toys and dressup stuff for the kids. Millie is a little bit obsessed.

Poor Max busted his lip the other day. We were in the bathroom and I was bathing Millie. Max was standing next to the toilet and fell, hitting his chin on the toilet on the way down. He bit his lip but luckily not all the way through. He was pretty tough and only cried for a minute. Millie was scared by all the blood so I couldn't show her I was too!

Superhero 5k

On Saturday I ran a 5k with Sharon! We've been running together all summer and it was fun to do a race together. I'm so glad we waited until October - the weather was perfect!

We were newbies to the whole photobooth thing....

The starting lineup. There were so many people dressed up, and for the rest of us the sponsors had capes to run with! We saw ninja turtles, Power Rangers, all the Marvel heroes, Batman, Superman, etc.

The race went well. I was pretty exhausted after the first mile or so from just fighting my way through all the people! There were tons who sprinted at the beginning and then either stopped to walk or slowed down a ton. We were pacing ourselves and spent a long time passing those walkers. By the second mile or so things thinned out and I started to feel that energy that I get from races! I love them so much.

Post-race - feeling so good!

Millie really loved the cape. She kept running around the house, saying, "I'm a superhero princess!"
