9 on 10: July 2018

1. A morning dance party.

2. Lemonade stand prep

3. A super safe way to ride in the cart. Love these two! But also a good reminder of why I do grocery pickup 90% of the time.

4. What quiet time usually looks like for me - some laundry and some reading.

5. Harvey is super into trains lately and it's so cute! I love how he and Max are so similar.

6. A sweaty, post Lifetime selfie.

7-9. An update on Harvey's scar. I'm putting Mederma on it 3x a day and it's already looking so much better! The purple goo is the Mederma.

Murals and Museums

I saw some pictures of some new murals downtown and thought it'd be fun to go there sometime. A trip to the natural science museum was on our summer list so we put the two together on a Thursday evening (when the museum is free)! Heidi, James, and Wes met us there too and we had a great time.

This is a crazy amount of pictures, but the kids were being so good and cooperative and the murals are so cute and I just couldn't delete them!

The kids were being so sweet with Harvey, and Harvey was so excited to be in every picture haha. This also gives you an idea of where the murals are.

Millie insisted on the heart hands every time here because of the heart on the mural. So funny.

Millie also insisted on having her purse in a few pictures. Girl knows what she wants!

Then we were off to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. They have such a cool dinosaur exhibit that we were all very excited about! Millie even brought a little notepad and was writing names and facts down.

They have a cool viewing deck where you can see lots of the dinosaurs at once from above.

Found Houston on the globe! The hall of curiosities was fun, as well as the gems. Lots of cool exhibits there.

When we felt like we'd gotten our money's worth (ha! It was free) we headed to Bahama Buck's for a cool treat before heading home. It was a fun night.

4th of July

This is always one of my favorite holidays! We were originally planning to go to the beach, but the weather had other plans. We met the Juergens crew at Harris County Smokehouse for breakfast. I'm not sure if the rain makes us want to eat there or if eating there makes it rain, but those two things seem to happen together a lot! Kind of funny. Luckily they have these funny animal chairs to keep the kids occupied even when they've had enough of sitting still in a restaurant.

We went to Gigi and Poppy's to wait out the rain. We watched the hot dog eating contest and had a lively round of Nertz while the babies napped. The weather cleared up in the late afternoon so we got to play some tennis! Tyler and I played doubles with AJ and Brittany and had a blast. We need to make that happen again soon.

Then of course the kids each got to hit around a bit.

At one point some people nearby started doing some fireworks (why do people do them during the day?? I'll never know) which made Millie and Harvey nervous. Gigi was so good to snuggle with them in the heat while we played. Millie said at one point, "It's fireworking!" which made us all laugh. Also, Max said that fireworks sound like the air tooting! They are hilarious.

We worked up a good sweat and wanted to hop in the pool but the water was pretty cold after all that rain, so the kids were the only brave ones who got in the water. Gigi and Poppy blew up a new pool toy which was quickly named Ella. They had so much fun on that thing.

As they swam, Tyler was mini-golfing nearby with Poppy and Mitchell and the rest of us were watching the Macy's firework show on TV outside. It was such a nice evening.

It finally got dark and the real "fireworking" began, which was the kids' cue to snuggle up on Gigi's bed to watch a movie and spy on the fireworks out the window occasionally. They still don't like the noise.

The picture below was from the Sunday before, feeling patriotic in our red, white, and blue. We are grateful to live in this blessed land!

Downtown Aquarium

Tyler took the week of the 4th of July off of work, and we wanted to do some fun things while he was around. Monday did not go according to plan with an ER visit (ahem, Harvey) but Tuesday we went to the aquarium! None of us had ever been before so we were excited.

White tigers at an aquarium? Okay, sure!

If I'm being honest, the aquarium itself was a little underwhelming to me. Maybe I'm just not a big enough fish fan? I don't know. But we were glad we got the all day adventure pass because it included unlimited rides outside! We spent a lot more time doing rides outside than we did in the actual aquarium. Millie and Max loved this bouncy one.

And I've finally found my buddy for rides! Millie was happy to go on the ferris wheel with me, as well as one of those rides that drops you from high up. It was so fun to do those with her.

The ferris wheel had cool views of downtown!

The train had the sharks we were hoping to see so we rode it twice. Such scary creatures!

And of course, a sea creature themed carousel. We probably rode this 10 times. At least enough for me to wish it would spin the other direction just once!

It was a great day at the aquarium!
