Our Harvey dude has been giving us a run for our money lately! He is so full of personality and spunk. He is just about 20 months now, not really sure how that happened.
Harvey makes the funniest facial expressions and cracks us up regularly! They say it's normal and expected to have less and less pictures of the younger kids in a family, but I would not say that has not been true here. Harvey is just so adorable and though it's impossible to remember everything I want to remember as much as I can! Can you blame me??
Harvey has a way of chilling that makes him look so much older than he is. Also, he loves Poppy!
He is still very active and that has come with some injuries lately! On Monday the 2nd Harvey tripped and hit his face on a basket in the living room. After a minute or two it was clear he needed some stitches or something.
We took him to the pediatrician first to make sure, and they confirmed it and directed us to an urgent care. Many of the ones that took our insurance weren't open until a regular doctor's office was closed, so we ended up going to the ER at Texas Children's Hospital. Poor guy fell asleep on the way there but of course woke up when the doctors started poking around.
The kids had fun playing with the toys. Thankfully Tyler was home from work for the week and was with us for all this too!
The doctor said they'd clean it out really well, make sure the cut inside his mouth wasn't connected to the one on the outside (it wasn't), and that he would need a couple of stitches. They put numbing cream on his face and gave him something to help him relax, which put him right to sleep again, but not for long.
It took two nurses and me holding him down for the doctor to do the actual stitches. The poor boy was scared but thankfully the doctor was pretty quick. Afterwards she said, "I'm all done Harvey!" and he said "Thank you!" It broke my heart.
They couldn't do anything to the cut on the inside of his mouth and said it'd heal well on its own but that he should eat a soft diet for a few days. I got a bunch of baby food but he mostly just didn't eat. This boy just knows what he wants and won't settle!
We were hoping the medical drama was over for a bit, but that was not the case! He tripped and fell on Wednesday the 4th while we were with family. It didn't look like a bad fall, he caught himself with his hands, but he cried a lot. Every time he fell or we touched his arm over the next couple of days he would cry and he just wouldn't use his left arm. We had been through this with Max a couple years ago (back HERE) and figured it was probably fractured. Back to the children's hospital on Friday, thankfully not the ER this time. We put the brace that Max wore back when he hurt his arm just to protect it a bit. The kids enjoyed the toys, again.
Sure enough, both bones were fractured! The x-rays were pretty much identical to Max's. So crazy. They didn't x-ray his upper arm but the doctor thought Harvey's elbow looked a bit swollen and thought he was protecting it a bit too, so to be safe she recommended a long arm cast. I'd never seen the casting process and it was cool to watch. Just wish it hadn't been on Harvey!
Is that not the cutest, tiniest cast ever?? It's super sad that he can't swim (more for the rest of us probably haha) or bathe but it's just adorable.
The cast has helped so much. He's sleeping so much better and having his arm stable and protected is great. He gets it off towards the end of the month so it's not for too long.
Now to convince him to slow down a bit! We sure love this crazy, cute, busy boy!!
