10 on 10: January 2015

This was our first Saturday of busy season, so Tyler worked all day. We kept ourselves busy all day and then Millie got to go with Tyler on a daddy-daughter date.

3. Before: I found this bookshelf on the street and decided to use it as a dress-up station for Millie.

4. She insisted on mini-cupcakes for her birthday party. Fine by me!

5. "My colors are blush and bashful, Mama."

6. He basically gets a bath 3 times a day.

7. More magnets. All day, every day.

8. After: Millie was so surprised! It turns out that the bookshelf is really top-heavy and this whole thing was pointless. We took it out of her room so it doesn't randomly fall on her or something. Someday I'll find a smaller shelf and use that instead.

9. We always find the princesses in funny situations!

10. I got this picture and a text from Tyler during their date: "I spy something blonde!"

Children's Museum

We wanted to do something fun with Kerri and Jane while they were still in town, so we went to the free night at the children's museum. We somehow managed to avoid a crazy crowd again and had a great time. Can't wait to go again when it's warmer and we can do the fun outside stuff too.

"Mommy, is that fish... real?" Thankfully, it was not.

We spent most of our time in the toddler area. It was so fun.

Millie rolled off of her bed one night and her eye hit the corner of a basket that was too close. Poor girl. 

This "Imagination Magnets" set is a huge hit at our house!

I really should get on the ball and make this kid his own hat, but for now we survive with pink hand-me-downs.

Lots of bubble baths lately

For some reason, this was the most delicious turkey sandwich ever. I love croissants. Excuse the shredded cheese! 

Before I cleaned out the garage and made space for our new bike trailer, these two loved to sit in it and go for rides around the house (it also has a detachable wheel in the front and can be used as a jogging stroller). We can't wait to use it outside!

Max at 9 months

I guess Max is almost 10 months now but oh well. 

Some things about Max at 9ish months:

-He loves balls! He got a basketball, football, and soccer ball for Christmas. He chases them around the house all day.

-Max loves to rearrange the furniture, specifically the kitchen chairs and stools. 

-Max loves his sister! He is a good sport when she makes him wear funny hats or princess crowns and he follows her around everywhere. He loves Millie so much.

-He has the cutest laugh, but more often than laughing he gives us this little chuckle that sounds like vibrato. It's the funniest sound ever. He does it mostly when he's excited.

-He doesn't know how to hold his own bottle yet, but it's kind of funny what he does instead!

-Watching Max eat is the greatest thing. He still eats everything he can, but strawberries and bananas give him a diaper rash. He loves all fruit and will pretty much drop whatever else is in his hand to grab it.

-He is starting to dance, which is hilarious.

-Max's 9 month stats: 22 lbs 5 oz (86%ile), 29.75" (90%ile), 18.7" head circumference (97%ile). Still our big boy, but slowing down the exponential growth. Thank goodness - my arms and back can't take much more!

Millie turns 3!

Millie had a great 3rd birthday! 

She helped make her own cupcakes (because she wanted to)

The weather was beautiful so we spent the morning outside. Love her static-y hair

Monka and Jane came our way and we went to McDonald's - AKA "the pwaypwace" - for lunch. Millie didn't eat anything and played the entire time. Typical.

After lunch Millie begged to go to Monka's house. We weren't really planning on it but how do you say no to a request like that on her birthday?? So to Monka's we went.

She was much too shy to blow out her own candles. Just like last year.

After we got home, Gigi and Poppy came by and showered her with gifts, most of which you can see in this picture. Millie was cracking up when I put her new glass slipper on. "You're just like Anastasia, Mommy!"

I even let her stay up late enough (so late!) to see Daddy and share some cake with him.

We had a little family gathering the following Sunday and had one of the only meals she eats - French toast with strawberries. It was a fun evening and it reminded me that I love hosting. Millie is one loved little girl.

Probably my favorite moment: We're all waiting for Millie to blow out her candles and Max belches!

Gotta love the pink streamers! Millie's one request was to have a pink party, so Daddy made sure there was pink everywhere.

Some things about Millie at 3 years old:

-Obviously, still obsessed with all things princess. She got some dressups for Christmas and her bday and she is always dressed as someone. Whenever she is dressed as Elsa, I get to be Anna. She always asks, "So what should we do today Anna?" Her imagination is so fun.

-Millie is officially not napping anymore! She will still fall asleep if she's in her room, so we're not yet at the phase of having quiet time alone.

-She loves her playgroup on Fridays and talks about Kinley and Paisley all the time.

-At her 3 year checkup, she was in the 50th percentile for both height and weight.

-We're still working on being fully potty trained and on eating. Millie is one strong-willed little girl!

-Her prayers are hilarious. The other night she thanked Heavenly Father for her princesses and then whispered to us like a side note, "Heavenly Father likes princesses!"

-She is such a good big sister to Max. She gets so excited when he wakes up and loves to play with him.

26 things to do while I'm 26

I had a birthday! It was a rather uneventful day as far as typical birthdays go, but that's how I wanted it. I felt kind of celebrated out, if that's a thing. I'm thinking maybe I should start celebrating my half birthday instead. But I did get to go grocery by myself, so hooray for that! I took a "I'm in the car alone" selfie to remember the moment.

 Later we had fun playing games with the Juergens crew, including McKenna's family that came to town for their open house. Wits and Wagers is so fun!

Anyway, on to the real reason for this post. I love setting goals and I've been a little experimental in how I do it in the last few years. This year, I decided to embrace my love for to-do lists and come up with 26 things to do while I'm 26. Some are small and silly, others large and important! Hopefully there's a good enough balance and I'll be able to get them all done.

26 THINGS TO DO WHILE I'M 26

1. Go to the Houston Zoo

2. Blue Bell Fun Run (I'm still debating - 5k or 10k??)

3. Decorate the Master bedroom

4. Learn a new skill or hobby - maybe take a class

5. Host a party

6. Read the Book of Mormon

7. Sew 4 items of clothing

8. Go to the beach

9. Complete our 72-hr kits
