More of the weekend

The kids were so excited to show Tyler the new park! We loved having him around for a few days after busy season.

On Saturday we went with Gigi, Heidi, and James to the opening of Mod Pizza near us!! We are so excited about having it close by. Best pizza ever. We were among the first 50 in line so we got free pizza! Score!

Max insisted on bringing trains with him, as usual.

10 on 10: March 2016: Rodeo date

Both my boys got haircuts while Millie was at preschool. *Funny side story: I cut Max's hair and then put him in the tub right next to me while I cut Tyler's. Max turned on the jets but there wasn't enough water so it just was super loud. I turned them off and told Max not to push that button, and Max kept saying, "I so scared. I so scared." His little sentences kill me!

We dropped the kids off with my mom and then it was rodeo time! It was so nice to have a date. First one in a while and a perfect way to celebrate the end of busy season. We tried Texas Pride Grill and the Texas Taters were awesome.

When you're on a date it's really just a series of selfies.

We had a rodeo first - we caught the rodeo runway show! It was kind of hilarious. All the vendors at the rodeo had models and our favorite were the leather stores because their models carried at least 4-5 bags each. Hysterical.

So. Much. Fringe.

Meanwhile, the kids played in a fort at Monka's house!

Luke Bryan was awesome!! So good live. That stadium isn't great for concerts (terrible acoustics) but the environment is so fun anyway. Our seats were wayyyy up high, next to another couple who had won tickets! Ha!

Loved seeing the carnival stuff all lit up as we left. Such a fun day! I need to make winning tickets a yearly thing!

Unusual events

I had a bit of a scare the other night. Tyler was working late so I was home alone with the kids. I was on the phone about some YW stuff and got a knock at the door at about 10:15. I am a scaredy-cat and don't even like to answer the door during the day when I don't know who it is, so no way was I going to answer a knock at that late hour! But they were persistent and rang the doorbell several times. After hanging up the phone I texted my neighbor to make sure she wasn't knocking, she said no but she had seen a cop car on our street. We decided I should call someone just in case. So as I'm looking up the non-emergency police number, suddenly I see flashlights shining through our master bathroom window!! I was so scared. I knocked on the window and yelled, "Can I help you?!?" (Funny thing to yell, in retrospect.) I didn't hear the response but quickly dialed 9-1-1. They said it looked like there was an officer on my street and they'd send him over. I called Sharon to ask if she could see anything outside my house, and then emergency response called back and said it was an officer at the door. I opened to find a fire truck, at least one ambulance, and a cop car outside my house with a team of people! They'd gotten a call about a medical emergency at a house that didn't exist on this street, so they were checking with the houses with the nearest numbers. At first I was so mad - why would you ring incessantly and come in my backyard and shine flashlights in my window when it's not even my house you're supposed to be at??? It scared me so badly! But if I were to ever be in a medical emergency I would hope they'd break down the door or window to get to me. It sure took me a while to calm my racing heart though!! Thanks to Sharon for snapping the picture. Funny memories.

Another recent unusual happening was winning rodeo tickets on the radio!! Tyler texted me one Saturday morning and said Luke Bryan was the "artist of the day" on a radio station and you can win tickets every time they play one of his songs! I was doing some driving that day so I kept it on that station, and after a few tries I won!! I was so excited because Luke Bryan was sold out and he was the one I most wanted to see at the rodeo this year. Anyway, so Max and I drove to the radio station to pick up the tickets.

And then, at Max's request, we drove by the waterwall. It was raining so we didn't venture out but he sure loves that place!

A random Sunday - 3/6

Not sure how so many pictures of this totally insignificant day ended up on my phone, but here they are anyway. 

Millie discovered she can pick up Max, highly entertaining for all.

A new park and other adventures

We had to miss ward playgroup this week (fundraiser day) but we wanted to check out the new park they went to anyway. It is so cool! It was shaded and had turf instead of grass, so no worrying about ants or mud or anything like that. The kids loved it and we will definitely go back!

We took Tyler's car in for an oil change and it took a while. Millie and Max were such troopers. They had a cool room for kids with a TV and some toys, but after 1.5 hours they started to get a little stir crazy! Can't blame 'em!

They were singing so sweetly in the back of the car while running errands on Saturday. They were singing different songs so it was a tad noisy but I kind of loved it! Millie and Max are at such fun ages. 

Lately

We went to a wedding reception last weekend and Max got to meet Hannah's daughter Abigail. They totally followed each other around and were so cute. They even hugged once. Hannah and I are determined to make this romance last haha.

Last weekend was also our Stake Conference. We took the kids to the adult session and hid in one of the side rooms so they wouldn't disturb the peace, but they were great!

I don't know why I feel so inclined to take a picture every time Max falls asleep on me. Maybe because I know he won't do that forever!

We are trying to be good about morning chores. Sometimes it is me who puts it off, sometimes the kids find other things to do too! Just the beginning I'm sure!

I couldn't stand his handsome self one day and had to document it.

We borrowed this truck from Monka and Millie put it to good use by setting up a princess parade.

We had our YW camp fundraiser this week. The girls sold pizzas and cookies, and on Wednesday we assembled pizzas and had a big pickup night for all the orders. It was a crazy day for me, going to Sam's to get all the ingredients for 170 pizzas (above) and setting up the assembly line at the church. It ended up going really well, but I was exhausted by the end of the day!! 

Dr. Seuss week at preschool. I was hoping "Green Eggs and Ham" would inspire Millie to try new things willingly, but no such luck yet.
