Finishing up May

Millie and Max got sick. Max was much worse than Millie - I'd never seen him get a fever that high. Poor guy was pretty miserable for a few days and we did a lot of snuggling. It was all he wanted and I was happy to oblige.

It's fun that both kids are old enough to play games like this together. It mostly goes well haha.

A first big sign that Max was getting better was when he asked for a "monkey back ride" and giggled the whole way.

Millie loves it when I trace her with chalk, even when it's super bright outside!

I love this picture Millie drew the other day. The Book of Mormon prophet Abinadi is on the right, and according to Millie "he's yellow because he was shining while he talked." On the left are King Noah and his wicked priests. And his cheetahs are on the very left (as seen in the Living Scriptures movie). I love the way she's absorbing the stories and how she depicts them. Those movies are quite the investment but it has been so worth it to us.

I sent her to preschool with two cute buns but she came out with this crazy do and made me laugh so hard.

Watching the rain. This happens a lot lately because it won't stop raining!!

I had a life dream fulfilled when we ordered pizza and it was delivered to our door. Why is food so much better when I don't have to make it??

We got to go on a date to the temple and La Madeleine while the kids played with Gigi and Poppy.

We told the kids we are going to Disneyland!! They are so excited, now that they know what that means. We pulled up some videos and the Disneyland app to help explain it.

Max sleeps with at least 2 trains every night, and this night he tried to smuggle about 6 in bed with him! 

Little things

I got out of the shower and heard Max saying "Mom, I'm ready to get down now!" Over and over. Found him sitting in the little art niche thing. He did it so many times that day and thought he was so funny every time.

Burying their own treasure to find again later. Max is holding a sprinkler head, not a knife. 

Max gets so sad when Millie goes to preschool and he can't go too!

I can't get enough of turkey sandwiches lately. Meat in general (similar to when I was pregnant with Max - maybe another boy)! I added some bacon to this one and wow. I want another one right now.

I took Tyler's car to the Relief Society activity on Thursday and came out to find this! Luckily Sharon was there and gave me a ride home. Also luckily, our insurance covers a tow within 5 miles, so the next day they took it to a tire place and replaced the tire.

"Mom, I think we need a new wheel." - Millie

Millie and Daddy read scripture stories on the iPad as part of her bedtime routine. Lately it has also included taking a couple of crazy pictures! I got to do it with her the other night too. Love that silly girl.

Baby #3!

We are going to be a family of 5! Baby #3 is due just after Thanksgiving. We are so excited. 

Millie includes the baby in family portraits now. She can't wait to have a new brother or sister. She says if it's a girl we will name her Cinderella, and if it's a boy we will name him Lightning, after Lightning McQueen. 

Max is in a bit of denial, but I think he will warm up to a new baby after a bit. When we told the kids Millie was squealing in excitement (she's been asking for a baby for a while) and Max just said, "No!" Pretty funny.

This pregnancy has rocked my world a little bit. I seem to be more sick each time! Not a good pattern to be following. But I can tell it's going to be better soon, for which I am so thankful. And I know the kids and Tyler will be glad when I have some energy again and don't spontaneously fall asleep all the time. I've never been such a sleepy head! I seriously can't make it past 9 most nights. I've also had some insomnia, which is fun combined with the fatigue. I wake up in the middle of the night and it takes me a while to fall back asleep. 

I have been a major negative Nancy, but I really am so thankful we get to bring another child to our family! 

Tyler's birthday!

Tyler turned 29 last week! I dropped the kids off with my mom and picked him up from work for a birthday date. We went to the Melting Pot for appetizers and desserts, which ended up being more food than we could handle. So darn delicious!!

Then we went downtown so Tyler could show me his main Houston office. It was so high up and so cool!!

We then rode the elevator down about 60 floors (quite the ride!) to the downtown tunnels. Nothing in them was open since it was night time but it was still really cool. 

Meanwhile, the kids had fun with Monka. 

It was a fun night for all! I love Tyler so much and am so glad we got to celebrate his day! 

Little things

I told Max it was time to get dressed, and the best thing I knew he had brought over a diaper, wipes, an outfit, and was lying down ready to be changed. I love him.

First flowers for Mom. Melt my heart!

We went out to lunch to celebrate Mom's birthday. So fun to have cousins nearby!

I locked my keys in the car while going in to the library. Luckily Gigi lives close and we were planning to go to her house afterwards anyway - she came to our rescue and took us home to get the spare key and then back to the car. 

Had to check on the new baby ducks!

Went back to Gigi's on Saturday and had the first swim of the year in their pool. Well, Millie and I did. Max will get there eventually, I hope!

Heidi and James and Wesley were there too and we all got to love on baby Wes. The kids were enamored with him!

Must work on my trimming skills. 

10 on 10: May 2016

1. If you're looking for Max, chances are he is lining up his trains on the ottoman.

2. Backus toast for breakfast. A wonderful result of running out of bread and having rolls leftover from Mother's Day.

3. In case you wonder what happens when you stop watering and trimming wheatgrass. Reminded me of those chia pets!

4. Our Roku remote randomly stopped working recently, but luckily you can use the app on your phone. Crazy technology!

5. Max got a Lightning McQueen and was so so excited. He played with it the rest of the day!

6. Showing Millie his new car after preschool. I was hoping to capture their hug instead, but oh well.

7. Not even sure why....

8. Water fight! It lasted about as long as it took to take this picture.

9. Lightning turns black when placed in really cold water. I thought that would be cool, Max didn't like that at all!

10. I finally thought to not raise the ironing board all the way and I ironed sitting down! Why have I never thought of this before now?? Total game changer for my very least favorite chore.
