9 on 10: November 2015

1. Still loving fitness blender workouts!

2. I'm talking to someone at Home Depot and suddenly I hear a pop and my hair starts to fall. Thick hair problems! Luckily I had a few bobby pins in my bag.

3. Unproductive shoe shopping

6. Millie made a self-portrait out of yarn while I crocheted. She wanted to leave it on the ottoman until her birthday! Obviously it didn't last that long. It lasted approximately 3 minutes after Max woke up from his nap.

8. Halloween/Thanksgiving decor fusion. Also known as laziness.

9. The kids have a renewed obsession with this book. Max asks for it before every nap/bedtime! Sadly, we have gotten to the point where I have the whole thing memorized. When I'm feeling lazy I just recite it to him as we rock rather than read it to him on the couch.

Thankful tree, etc.

We started our Thankful Tree a few days late this year, but the kids have made up for it in enthusiasm. Millie was so excited to help me make the tree and leaves!

She wrote everyone's names above their heads and drew the faces and some other unidentifiable stuff above the tree. Kid art is the best. Also, the smiley face in the middle of the tree has a chin. Not sure where she gets this stuff but I love it.

Every night (ish) we each write a few things we're thankful for and put them on the tree. Max puts a leaf over everyone's face every time he gets a chance! 

I really love doing this. At first it's pretty general, but after a few days of saying all the standard things, it really gets us thinking. Millie is especially benefiting from it this year.

Outside fun

The weather has been pretty beautiful lately! We spend so much time outside and it is really fun.

I find Max in the funniest places.

He likes to observe bugs from a distance (can you spot the one on the bike tire?)

We enjoyed a play date at the park with Delilah and Oliver!! 

And lastly, our renewed bike obsession. We found great deals on training wheels and a helmet for Millie (less than $10 combined!), so we decided not to wait until Christmas. I'm so glad we didn't wait! Tyler found this bike on the side of the road a month or so ago. We took it for a spin yesterday and Millie loved it so much!

She got real brave and took her hands off a few times. 

Max likes his bike but eventually his attention wanders. He found himself in the hub caps - "Yook! Mass!" (Look! Max!)

November so far

It's hard to believe we are already almost halfway through November! 

We have enjoyed a few chilly-ish days. It got below 70 one day and I think the kids  wished they had big winter coats on! We are Texas wimps!

Tyler has been busy and working late sometimes so when he is home, the kids make sure to snuggle up!

Last week we had dinner and FHE with Monka and Ampa. Mondays are one of the few nights my dad doesn't have stake meetings and Tyler was able to come right from work (just a few minutes away). Not sure why we haven't done this before, but we definitely will do it more now! The kids especially loved playing with the dominoes. Max pushed the Mexican Train button a hundred times and now we all have hearing damage.

Can't get over this squishy face! He falls asleep at pretty inconvenient times but I love it anyway.

Millie and Max have downed 3 batches of pumpkin bread in the last few weeks. Okay, it wasn't just them. But they really love it!

We were so excited when Inside Out came to redbox! We had a fun movie night. I love that they are old enough to sit still for at least a few minutes of a movie.

A new Academy just opened near us and they sent us an awesome coupon so we went to check it out on Saturday. The kids loved watching fishing demonstrations outside and we scored a selfie stick for $1! We had fun playing around with it and figured out that the part that attaches to the phone will also connect to our tripod. So we put the phone on the tripod and used the selfie stick like a remote! I see more family snapshots on our future. 

Halloween 2015

Halloween was much anticipated by all of us this year! The youth were in charge of the Ward trunk or treat this year (read: I was in charge) so I was working on stuff for it all month. We woke up to so much rain and I really didn't want to move the party inside! I've never prayed so hard for weather since our wedding probably haha!

It rained all morning but then kinda turned out to be a perfect afternoon. Cloudy and breezy but no rain. Definitely a miracle to me. 

We had dinner and a live band (made up of ward members) during the first hour, carnival-y games during the second hour, and then the actual trunk or treat! Everything went well and we all had a fun time. 

I was trying to be all discreet with the duct tape on this photo booth but the wind had other plans! Oh well!

They collected candy for a few minutes but then they were content to sit and enjoy. I love this Little Red and Big Bad Wolf!

After getting everything cleaned up we stopped to grab some food and went over to Gigi and Poppy's house! Heidi and James were there too. We visited with them and trick-or-treated around their neighborhood a little bit. Nana and Botz's house was our last stop before heading home! It was such a fun day!

We came to a few houses where no one was home. Tyler said at one house Millie knocked and looked in the window, whispering "Please!" These things are so important to little kids!!

I wasn't always big on Halloween, but we have really enjoyed it the last few years. We're already planning for next year!!
