Harvey lately

Our Harvey dude is a man on a mission. 

He loves the trampoline but usually doesn't last long. He loves the getting on and getting off process the most I think.

Harvey has a little shoe fettish and clunked around in Max's soccer cleats for several hours one day.

Or maybe he just likes to wear random stuff? It was this coat one day too. Funny kid.

Harvey doesn't just sit still with me often, but I sure love it when he does.

He's usually too busy with important things, like emptying the pantry and cupboards of their contents.

A comfortable reading position? I was laughing too hard to get him off (or to read the book Harvey brought me, for that matter) and Max snapped this for me.

He loves to be outside and screams when we go back in. The backyard is his happy place.

Still a major climber/stander/danger seeker. Heaven help me.

But I can't even be mad at this sweet face!

Max lately

Max loves to get out toys that he hasn't played with in a long time. He often goes into a closet and looks for something fun to rediscover. One Saturday it happened to be the train track he got for Christmas a couple of years ago. It took me a long time and a lot of frustration to put it together, but he sure had fun with it. 

This boy gets sillier and sillier all the time. Getting dressed is a particularly silly point of the day for him.

Max was so excited to finally be old enough to play soccer! His team is the Dragons and they're a cute bunch.

He had some very excited fans too. Millie made this at school on the day of his first practice.

He must have gone through a growth spurt too, because he was falling asleep a lot and in random places for a while.

Not even sure....

I was trying to get Max to practice soccer with me in the backyard. He finally agreed if I would fill up his water gun and let him get stuff wet around the yard. Easy to please.

Millie lately

Thought I'd do a little update on each of the kids. They change so quickly!

Millie lost her first tooth on January 19th. It was loose for a while, and she came home one day able to push it completely perpendicular to her other teeth. She definitely inherited my fear of losing teeth and would have just wiggled it forever.

Luckily, we were headed to a birthday dinner for Poppy. I reminded her that Poppy is a doctor and would love to pull her tooth out and would do a good job! She mulled it over for a while and agreed to let him wiggle it. 

He wiggled it for a while and eventually just went for it. She was shocked at first and then just burst into tears! Poor thing. 

Nothing birthday brownies and ice cream can't fix, right?

She told me later that she was glad Poppy did it. I think it was just a lot for her cute little self to handle in the moment.

Tyler and Millie went to a daddy-daughter dance on Feb. 3. The cutest little duo. Tyler reportedly teared up dancing with his little girl to Tim McGraw's song "My Little Girl." They got ice cream afterward and had the best time. 

Millie has gotten increasingly picky about what she wears, and stubborn when other suggestions are made. She hopped off the bus after school wearing this ensemble and I thought it was hilarious. She'd been wearing a jacket that morning so I didn't see the shirt she was wearing. Also, the socks. She's really picky with socks lately (she can't stand the toe seam) and for some reason her favorites are the ones she got from a birthday party at Urban Air.

Gigi and Poppy gave Millie the Mercy Watson book series for Christmas and Millie loved reading them. I thought her drawing of Eugenia Lincoln and Mercy Watson was so cute and spot on.

Millie's shirt for the 100th day of school. She really wanted "jewels," but the closest thing I found were these big sequins. She said that was fine as long as I glue them on in the shape of a paw since they're wolves.

We surprised her with lunch that day.

I was glad we did because we got to see Millie's art submission for the rodeo art contest. Her picture of boots and bluebonnets was so cute! I'm still not sure if that means she won on some level, or if they just picked random ones to display. We looked at the art contest winners at the rodeo and didn't find it there so we know it didn't get that far haha. 

Ice Days

We have definitely had some crazy weather since the hurricane. First we got snow in December, then again in January! It blew in on MLK Day in the evening and we heard school was cancelled the next day. The forecast looked pretty wacky for sure!

It snowed a bit but mostly it was just ice coming down. It made quite the little ice rink in our backyard, which was crazy.

The kids did venture out a little bit, for a few minutes at a time.

It's hard to tell but the ice was about an inch thick here! 

But mostly we stayed in. Tyler worked from home and we just played. Millie and Max went "camping" all around the house.

We cleaned out Max's closet and found a pair of yellow Crocs that he was given as a baby and never wore (as they were in his closet - out of sight, out of mind). They were a little small for Harvey but since he loves shoes he stomped around in them all day.

School ended up being cancelled on Wednesday too. 

It was a little warmer that day and we did make it outside for a walk around the block. The kids brought walking sticks and had fun trying to break up the ice.

Also getting the icicles off of Tyler's car. The doors were iced shut on the shady side of the car still! It was crazy. 

Ironically, our theme at preschool that week was cold weather. We made play snow on Thursday and the kids had so much fun. 

Little things

I wore a mask for a couple of days as a precaution. No way was I giving my kids strep!

And Max and I finally had our game.

I just felt so happy to be able to be with them. Honestly, December and January were rough with me being sick over and over again. Good health is such a blessing and I'm so thankful that in general I have a healthy body.

I'd better go knock on my neighbor's house and ask for a little of their gold.

Max insisted he didn't need help to get whatever game he was reaching for!

Andrew and Brittany came to Houston for their open house! I wish we could have seen them more but I was still recovering and Tyler was really busy. We had fun at their open house and this was the only picture I grabbed. Max was a trooper the whole night and conked out the last few minutes in Gigi's arms!

Grammy's sweet cousin JoAn gave Harvey this adorable blanket and it's the cutest, softest thing ever. Harvey always sleeps on it now! 

Millie had a fun playdate with her friend Olivia on MLK Day. We met at the park to pick Millie up and their friend Avery was there too. Three cute blondies.

We were sad to lose President Monson and will miss him. It was amazing to watch the press conference (where I took this screenshot on Instagram haha) where they announced the new prophet, President Nelson, and his counselors, President Oaks and President Eyring. We love and sustain them.
