Hazel lately

 Hazel is so crazy and so fun lately. I was telling Tyler how crazy she is and then realized that I’ve been saying that about her since she was about 9 months old! Not sure if it’s a long phase or if this is just how she is, but she sure keeps us on our toes. Good thing she is adorable! I can’t believe she will be 2 soon.

She pulled up a chair to the counter where the diffuser was on, put her face in the steam, and said, “Ah, yeah!”

This is her face when I tell her to smile lately. It’s one of my favorite things.

I was trying to hurry and make sugar cookies while Hazel was napping, but she woke up early. She wanted to “help,” which basically meant rolling the same little ball of dough until it was dead and I actually made the cookies late that night after she was asleep again!

Poor girl fell on the sidewalk at the park and slid on her face a little bit. It was very sad looking for a few days but healed quickly! She is a tough girl!

More Hazel

Below is a great reminder of why I feel so much gratitude for online shopping and curbside pickup that is so widely available these days.

Naughty nugget

 Hazel earned some new nicknames over the summer - naughty nugget, tiny terrorist, and Hazel Houdini, among others. She entered what I thought was that busy phase but it seems to just be her personality! Love this naughty girl so much.

She only played in the splash pad after several times of going and not touching the water, making me think she didn’t need her swim suit on. Rookie mistake.

Always stealing my water.

Always climbing on tables. Six months later and we still store our kitchen chairs in Tyler’s and my bedroom and pull them out for every meal!

Stealing the hose when I’m trying to water the lawn.

And she started waking up around 5:30 every morning. Sometimes I tried to get her to go back to sleep, sometimes we snuggled, and sometimes we got out on a walk.

But I can never be mad at her naughtiness for long... especially not when she looks this cute all dressed up for church! Gigi made this dress for Heidi when she was little and I love that Hazel got to wear it.

Focus on those cute ruby red lips, and ignore the dirt in her neck roll haha.

She also became a little bookworm. This is the one mess I never mind cleaning!

Hazel’s 1st birthday

 Hazel turned 1 on May 14th. How is that even possible? She was supposed to stay my baby forever!! We got to celebrate her more than once - first was at Gigi and Poppy’s house. She felt more comfortable eating her cupcake when it was broken up for her.

Hazel is not much of a snuggler, so her falling asleep on my shoulder was a real gift for me!

1 year vs. 1 week. It’s hard to believe that is even the same baby!

One year well check. Didn’t happen on her actual birthday, but it’s related so it’s going here too.

After shots - poor thing! She always screams and then once she is in my arms again she calms down.

Some things about Hazel at one year old:

- Girlfriend LOVES food. She will eat just about anything! 

- Hazel is a great climber. We have resorted to moving our kitchen chairs to my and Tyler’s bedroom to keep Hazel off of the table. It’s just easier than having to stand by her all the time.

- She loves her siblings and has such a cute relationship with each of them. Max especially loves to make her laugh, Millie takes great care of her, and Harvey talks to her in a really cute high pitched voice.

- I referenced her love of food already, but I want to remember specifically that she loves to eat whatever Tyler or I am eating. She could have the same thing on her own plate, but for some reason it tastes better coming from someone else’s!

- Hazel is tough. She falls down a lot and gets bonked a lot, but she doesn’t cry a lot about it. 

- She is an early riser and not great at naps - apparently life is just too fun and she doesn’t want to miss any of it!

- We love Hazel’s smile and belly laugh. She is such a happy girl and we love her so!
