Millie looks so old to me in these pictures! It's crazy how quickly she's growing. She's getting her first round of shots today... I have a feeling it's a waterproof mascara kind of day!

A name and a blessing

We had a great weekend! Tyler blessed Millie Mae in church on Sunday. We were so lucky to have lots of family come to our Sacrament Meeting and to our apartment afterwards. It was such a special day! Tyler gave Millie a beautiful blessing, and the testimony afterwards was so great. The Spirit was so strong and I was near tears the whole rest of the day, just feeling so happy and blessed. We felt so much love and support from our family and friends. After the day was over, we counted how many people came... there were 54 people squished in our apartment! It was quite the party. Thanks again to those who came and brought food and partied with us.

I was pretty heartbroken after all the craziness was done and we looked at the pictures from the day... they are pretty awful. Of me anyways. I need some sunshine and hair help and lots of other things. So please look at these pictures with your eyes half-shut. Thanks.

She was an absolute angel during the meeting, and this captures the rest of the day.  Poor girl was pretty overwhelmed with all the attention!

 It was one of my favorite days ever. Both of our families came from Houston- I think they won the distance prize!

I want to take some better pictures of Millie in her dress... she looked beautiful!! But these will have to do for now. 

2 month stats

Millie had her 2-month checkup yesterday! I was so excited to see how much she has grown. She has gained almost 3 lbs since her 2-week appointment and grown 2 inches! 

Weight: 11 lbs 14 oz, 79th %ile

Length: 23.2", 81st %ile

Head: 39.5 cm, 73rd %ile

*p.s. does anyone know why they measure length and head circumference with different units? I find that pretty annoying. 

She's our little heavyweight! I love it. Millie was smiling like crazy for the doctor, and even showed him how she can roll over when he put her on her tummy! She made this mama proud, for sure. 

Things I love about Millie at 2 months:

-We can get her to smile almost anytime, even if she's fussy

-She is a morning girl- so happy in the mornings!

-Millie loves bath time, and always crosses her legs off to the side like this:

-The way she leans on her arm when she's propped up on my shoulder

-Her favorite song is "I Am a Child of God"- it soothes her every time we sing it and she cries when we switch to a different song!

We just love our Millie Mae! My week's mission for this week was accomplished... found her blessing dress! Can't wait for Sunday!

A Sunday stroll

We're kind of in love with our stroller, and have been dying to take Millie for a walk in it! So since the weather was so nice yesterday, we jumped at the chance to use that bad boy.

Poor girl was sweating when we got home... but at least she wasn't cold!!

Did you know jogging strollers come with leashes now? We just had to test it out. And it was pretty awesome.

Millie enjoyed her abbreviated tour of Provo. I can't wait until it's consistently warm outside and we can go out more often!

To do this week: find a blessing dress for Millie! We are so excited to have family coming in for her blessing next Sunday!

A day in the life of Millie Mae

Millie is typically very awake around 5 in the morning... awesome. So sometimes I just bring her into bed with me and let her talk and entertain herself while I catch a few more minutes of sleep. She's super happy in the mornings, so that's when we do most of our tummy time and playing!

Her baby legs often end up looking like flare jeans that are too long...

We spend the afternoons cleaning, reading, and running errands if we need to.

We make dinner and wait semi-patiently for Dad to get home. Millie's going to be a daddy's girl, I'm sure of it. It's pretty adorable.

Throw in some feedings and naps and that's basically it. What a life. It's tough being a baby, isn't it??

Family lovin'

Kurt and Heidi came last week and Heidi is now living with us! It was fun to have Kurt here for a few days- it was the first time either of them had met Millie. 

Possibly one of my favorite pictures ever!

Such a fun weekend! We love having Heidi here with us. Millie's cousin was born last night! Lindsay had her baby, and Kim will anytime. So exciting!! 

Also, it's just hilarious that we are getting lots of snow starting now. Really? That's enough. You had 4 months to dump as much as you wanted, but the time is up! 

Great, now I'm talking to the weather like it's a person.

So far, I can't get a picture of her smiling where she doesn't look a little goofy- it's SO much cuter and less drunk-looking in person! Love this little girl.

Another week

We took Millie to church for the first time yesterday! Despite my fears of her having a blowout or screaming/grunting the whole time, she did great. Slept the whole time and let everyone ooh and aah over her cuteness. I think maybe she was born with some jedi sense of what not to do in public- she has been so good every time I've taken her out so far! Knock on wood. I probably just jinxed myself by writing that.

She's still rollin' around, but it's hard to get her to roll when she doesn't want to. I think she must get her stubbornness from her mama. We ventured up to Uncle Dick and Aunt Sheila's house last night for dinner and it was a delicious and fun evening! Millie loved meeting her dad's cousins.

Heidi comes up this week! She and Papa J will arrive Wednesday and we are SO excited. We spent Saturday re-organizing the spare bedrooms and getting rid of stuff we don't need. The less we have to move with in a few months, the better! I'm in the process of scrapbooking all of the little love notes and random stuff from when we were dating. That's the kind of stuff I can't bear to throw away but didn't know what to do with for a long time. Then I saw THIS video and decided I'm going to copy Elder Scott and just paste them in a simple black book! I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Also, I need some reading suggestions! Now that I'm completely done with school, I'm excited to read for fun again. Any must-reads I should know about? Help please!

Kind of a big deal

Yesterday I took the final for the Independent Study class I've been taking... I am DONE!! A friend advised me to get it done as soon as possible after Millie was born, while she was sleeping a ton. So glad I did- it feels great to be finished! I'm excited to give all my time and attention to Millie. We celebrated last night with frosties and french fries... somehow, the value menu treat didn't quite match up to the time and money spent getting a college education! But we'll celebrate for real when we both graduate in April. Can't wait for that. 

I also did a little project the other day. I wanted to make a skirt for Millie, so I took this shirt

(mine, not Tyler's) since it had holes in both shoulders, and, using THIS tutorial, turned it into a skirt and headband for Millie!

She looks so cute in skirts. I'm definitely going to make more! Not sure how I feel about the headband- the flower is a bit too big and poky- but oh well. 

Love

Our Valentine's Day date was great! We got Olive Garden to go and ate it while watching the Biggest Loser. If that's not oxymoronic, I'm not sure what is! The surprise of the day was Millie rolling over. I couldn't believe it!! Is this when babies start rolling over?? I was taking a picture of her cute bum, 

and the next thing I knew she was on her back!

We made her do it about 10 more times to make sure it wasn't a fluke- AND we got it on video. I guess she really doesn't like tummy time!
