First day of school, and the day before

Millie and Max were excited to go back to school! It had been an unexpectedly long time since being there. I was nervous about how they would handle wearing masks all day every day but they have been troopers. They don’t really complain about it at all!

So proud of this 3rd grader. She was so excited to get to go upstairs this year.

And so proud of this 1st grader! Can’t believe he’s that old.

And this cutie started preschool the very same day! We have preschool Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. We had signed him up to go to the high school’s preschool like Max did, but with all the changes they had to make due to the pandemic we decided to back out for this year. Hopefully things will be back to normal for next year so he can have that experience too!

But backing up a little bit, we got to have a fun day on the boat the day before! Garrett and McKenna came down for the weekend too and it was great. We so loved our time with Gigi, Poppy, and the crew on the boat this summer!

Donuts with dudes and tennis lessons

Max had some exciting stuff in October. He invited Harvey to his preschool for "donuts with dudes" and I got to tag along as Harvey's chaperone haha. Max was very excited to show us the "alphabots" he plays with at school every day.

Then it was time for donuts! Harvey was obviously thrilled haha.

Love my little dudes!

The other exciting thing was that Max started an 8-week session of tennis lessons at the gym! It was great and I'm secretly hoping this is the start of a life-long sport for Max. He's a natural!

And he had some pretty cute spectators.

First day of preschool

Max started preschool at the beginning of October! He is going to one of the high schools near us. He has a high schooler as a "bonding buddy" and he really likes it there! He goes 8:30-12:30 on T/W/Th.   Max was nervous but excited about his first day.

One perk of having preschool start in October was that all the back to school stuff was way on sale by then, so we scored this awesome Star Wars backpack for $8!

They do a car line so Max hopped out of the car and went right in with one of the high school students! He was awesome.

They sent me this a bit later, I thought it was so cute.

Poor Harvey didn't quite know what to do without Max there. He was pretty sad. It also took a week or two to get used to going to the gym without Max.

A big thumbs up after the first day! He was excited to go back the next day too which I took as a good sign.

End of preschool

The last day of preschool for me and Max was May 24th. The kids were more than happy to pose for me to test the photo backdrop I made. I'm not great at that stuff but somehow we all survive just fine.

The program was short and sweet. Kids never perform like they practice it seems, but hopefully parents understand that haha. So glad Max and I got to have this adventure together!

Here's the cute class. I'm relieved to be done but will definitely miss these cute kids. Luckily most of them are in our ward and we get to see them often!

First days of school

We are finally in school! Millie started Monday, Sept. 11 after a 2-week delay thanks to the hurricane. She kept praying that no more schools would flood so she could "actually go to kindergarten." She was so excited!

We were expecting the bus to be a little bit slow since it was the first day. We were out there and ready but our parting felt a little abrupt! I was determined to get a video so Tyler could see (he wasn't back from Utah yet) but of course I started the video when I thought I was ending it. Thankfully Sharon took these cute pictures.

I totally did cry when she left. Sharon was at the school and also sent me this pic of her at her desk, smiling and happy, which made me feel so much better.

It felt pretty weird to go on a walk with just my boys!

Millie had a great first day but was a little bummed they spent so much time going over rules. She was excited to get into the nitty gritty haha. She spent the rest of the day making up for all the headstands and handstands she can't do at school.

The next day was Max's first day of preschool! Also my first day as his preschool teacher. I spent the morning frantically trying to finish everything.

Max didn't seem too nervous but he protested when Tyler "dropped him off" in the preschool room haha. The number of kids made him nervous for a second I guess. But he was fine after a second.

We had a great first day! It definitely wore both of us out.

And this was his "school picture" that we took during outside play. What a handsome boy.

And my favorite part of the day was when Millie came home and the big kids sat down with a cookie and were so excited to tell each other about their days. So sweet.
