2016 in review

January: I turned 27, Millie turned 4, busy season began, Sarah left on her mission and we got to attend her farewell. I read "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" and went on an organizational tirade.

February: Max made us laugh with his mischievous ways, Millie began soccer team, I got to hear my mom speak at her RS Super Saturday, Tyler worked hard, and we got to see Lindsay and Kenny as they house-hunted here!

March: Huge YW fundraiser for me, I won tickets to the rodeo for Tyler and I, the kids and I went to the beach with friends, we enjoyed cousin time over spring break and went to the rodeo again, finally drove out to see the bluebonnets, lots of soccer for Millie. Tyler officially finished busy season. Oh and we found out I was pregnant!

April: I was super sick and exhausted so this month was a bit of a blur for me. Millie finished the soccer season. We went to the Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival with Grammy and enjoyed a few days with Garrett and Mitchell in Houston.

May: I was released from YW, We got to meet baby Wes, Tyler turned 29, first swim of the year, fun Memorial Day at the Westons, Millie finished preschool.

June: We swam a lot (except for Max, who avoided getting in the water at all costs), we re-vamped our daily routine, had a fun few days with cousins (Bakers back from Cambodia), and then went to California & DISNEYLAND!

July: We celebrated Mitchell and Shayna's wedding, found out we were having a BOY, enjoyed time with AJ, Max got rid of the binky and moved to a big boy bed, had fun with Andersen cousins (Andersens visiting from Germany), I started using a grocery pickup service. Life-changing.

August: Lots more fun with extended family on both sides, lots of swimming and rainy days, Tyler and I celebrated our 7th anniversary, and the kids got to go with Tyler to bring-your-kids-to-work day.

September: Tyler went to Louisiana to help clean up after the flood, we had family pictures taken, the kids and I went to Beaumont and finally got to meet Becca, Millie participated in her first primary program, we officially began preschool at home, Tyler went to a BYU football game in D.C.,  and Millie started taking gymnastics and swimming lessons.

October: The kids came with me to a couple of my doctor's appointments, we endured a super hot "fall," got ready for baby to come, and had a fun Halloween.

November: We did lots of baby prep, voted, and enjoyed going on some fun last outings together as a family of 4. Harvey was born and we had a relaxing Thanksgiving.

December: One of our most low-key Decembers to date, thanks to having a newborn. We visited Santa and spent time with family on both sides. Tyler got to go to the bowl game in San Diego and we enjoyed a great Christmas.

This has been the slowest and fastest year ever. I love looking back and thinking about how things have changed, how we have changed. We are excited for 2017!

After Christmas fun

We had fun celebrating Garrett's and Mitchell's birthdays on the 27th. We walked to the park, played games, and ate at Jerrybuilt. Amazing.

Funny story: for some reason Max had a hard time warming up to McKenna and Shayna while they were here. I asked Max about it once when we were in the car and he said, "They're afraid of me." He kills me!

We had so much fun playing Code Names with everyone we could this Christmas!

Other random pictures:

New swing from Gigi and Poppy. He loves it!

Amusing outfit choice.

Tyler took Millie and Max on a date (separately) and snapped these cute pics. Our kids are so lucky to have such a fun dad who takes them out for one-on-one time!

Max was having a meltdown and then fell asleep in Tyler's arms. I love my boys!

Christmas 2016

We were lucky to get both our families in town for Christmas this year!

Dec. 23 & 24 were with the Juergens crew. It was so special to have everyone together! We had family pictures taken, went to Escape The Room, played lots of games, ate tons of yummy food, went to Grammy's for Christmas Eve with the Wichmanns, and enjoyed being together.

Tyler took these on his new phone! Love that camera!

We slept at our own house that night. Well, some of us did. Tyler and I were up way into the morning cleaning, unpacking and repacking, making breakfast for Christmas morning, and waiting for Santa.

The kids had gone to bed late too so they didn't wake up as early as normal. In fact, we needed together moving so I opened their doors and made noise in the kitchen to slowly wake them up! They were so excited to see what Santa brought.

Max asked for Toby (from Thomas the Train). He got that and a track to race his motorized trains.

Millie got Ashlyn, an American Girl doll.

We packed everything in the car and drove to my cousin's house where my family was staying. We ate breakfast (which I was in charge of this year - we had Gretchen's delicious breakfast casseroles and monkey bread) and opened presents. My parents' ward was at 11 and we loved hearing my dad speak and share his Christmas story he wrote several years ago. We came back and got to have a Google hangout with Sarah! The rest of the day was spent playing games and eating.

Eva got a mannequin head for Christmas to practice braiding and doing hair, and I couldn't resist braiding a bit myself! It was so fun!

We woke up on the 26th to Millie not feeling well, so we took her home and spent the day watching movies and sleeping.

It was a great Christmas! I loved having a new baby during this season. Newborns bring a sweet, peaceful feeling anyway but it was extra-special for me to slow down and think of the birth of our Savior.
