Uncle Tim is home!

Even though we didn't get to go to France to pick up Tim, we got to welcome him home!

Millie loved helping me with a sign.

Lauren came with us to the airport!

Of course, Millie insisted on wearing her Sleeping Beauty dress.

We spent Saturday night at my parent's and then got to hear Tim speak at their ward on Sunday.

Millie immediately loved Uncle Tim, as every kid does! He's a great uncle!

We took a walk around the courtyard and found a beautifully blooming bush.

We're so glad Timbo is home!

"Treat yo' self"

We finally had a weekend together! Busy season is not officially over yet, but Tyler got to come home early on Friday AND he didn't have to work on Saturday and Sunday. First days off this year! So we declared it "treat yo' self" day/weekend. Parks and Rec fans know what we're talking about. We ended up with an iPad Mini, a TV and Roku for our room, two nightstands, pink cookies, and green ice cream. Can you guess who picked which items? Basically everything but the cookies and ice cream were things we have been looking at and waiting to buy for a long time. It was funny that we ended up with them all in a very short amount of time.

Millie was so nice to read the instructions to Daddy. They mostly consisted of "pwess pway."

Trip to Ikea for the nightstands. I'll be hacking the Rast soon!

2 kids = man-to-man parenting

Fancy party with the pink cookies. What a great weekend!

Little things

Letter M chocolate chip pancakes

A little daddy-daughter date to CVS to pick up a redbox turned into this

Max used to be deathly afraid of balloons, now he won't play with anything else!

Millie was writing on this magnadoodle, muttering about "checking my e-mails." Can you tell mommy's new calling is very e-mail-intensive??

There's a new Wal-Mart near Gigi and Poppy's house that we were excited to try one day after going to the library

Max approves of the flavor of our new mulch!

We went with Grammy, Gigi, and Heidi to see the new Cinderella last week! Millie loved it, and I wrestled Max the whole time. I should have gotten a picture of everyone there, but I did snap one after to document her outfit. She wore the hat the whole time! Funny girl.

Houston Rodeo 2015

The rodeo kind of snuck up on us this year! Busy season was lasting forever and while we knew we wanted to go to the rodeo eventually, we didn't know when we could. Tyler's boss gave him 6 tickets for Saturday, March 14, so we jumped at the chance! He still had to work that day so we went in the afternoon. Gigi and Heidi and James came with us. Gigi was sweet to drive us all there, which turned into an over-2-hour ordeal! Finding our parking lot was ridiculous. We were SO happy to get out of the car. Millie said her favorite part of the whole day was going on the bridge... which is what took us from the parking lot to the rodeo gates! That's how relieved we were.

On the bridge

Max had blue lips for a little while, thanks to a dum-dum he ate in the car to keep him from screaming.

Millie was so excited to see the animals. The line for the petting zoo looked to be a few hours long, so we diverted her attention. It was so crowded!

Yummy food! We ate an early dinner just after we had our cinnamon roll. Sounds about right.

It is quite possible that this is the happiest Max has ever been. He was sitting on Gigi's lap with a chicken nugget in one hand and a french fry in the other, waving his hands and food around and dancing and intermittenly taking bites. It was so adorable! Millie sat behind, licking the little bowl that our cinnamon roll had come in, trying to get every last drop of icing. Funny kids.

We didn't make it in time to see the live rodeo events, but we did catch a song or two from Billy Currington. That's about all we dared to do with the kids before heading home. We love the rodeo!

Random pictures that need blogging

Apparently this BLT (plus cheese) was so yummy I felt compelled to take a picture of it? I don't even know.

Saying hi to Daddy. About 2 minutes later she was asleep.

Just a boy, digging in the dirt.

Max has been very attached to that little shovel since then, carries it with him everywhere! Funny boy.

Our yard really needs some help. I started with fertilizer, pulling weeds, and new mulch. Millie loves to help in the yard. All that's left is to clean up the landscaping! Which is actually going to be really huge. Not looking forward to that. It just takes so much time, I really only have Max's naps to work with! But I really enjoy doing yard work.

10 on 10: March 2015

1. Millie insists that the blanket covers the entire couch. Also, she is pictured reading one of her favorite library books right now, "You Can't Eat a Princess!"

2. I've been using fitnessblender.com videos on YouTube lately, and I love them. The kids watch them (and me) too. Millie likes to point out if I'm wearing or doing something differently from the instructor or say "Mom, you should hold weights too," and Max likes to climb on top of me if I'm ever on the ground. It is just as productive as it sounds.

3. Glued to my knee/whatever part of me he can grab

4. I printed some family pictures to hang in the living room (the one of Max in the tub is for the bathroom) and just loved seeing them again.

5. Millie loves putting small items in Easter eggs to find later. If I'm ever missing something and it would fit in there, that's where I check first.

6. I was thankful for yummy-smelling candles after cooking some chicken that had apparently gone bad. It smelled AWFUL.

7. Max is usually not happy when he wakes up, but if Millie is the first one he sees it usually helps

8. First time coloring. I love his little tongue

9. Millie loves to write the letter M over and over and over again, in the same spot.

10. This picture doesn't do it justice, but the sky was the prettiest shade of light purple as the sun was going down. A welcome sight after a really rainy and ugly weather day.

More funnies

Millie loves her "Texas nightgown." I couldn't stop laughing when she also put on my rain boots and they took up a good portion of her leg!

Max loves to climb in the cupboards. He empties the bottom shelf first, then climbs into reach the top shelf and finish the job. Sooo helpful. Millie finds it hilarious - "Mom, remember when Max got in the covered? That was so funny!"
