Little things

I felt so sorry for Max at his 12 month checkup - blood draw and 4 shots! It was a rough day.

But Millie was happy to tag along.

Millie loves to throw parties. She declares, "Mom! It's your birthday! You'd better come - I made you a cake!" and has a "lovely party" all ready. She has treats but always insists that we eat something healthy first. Wish this translated to her real eating habits.

Not happy to leave the park. She kept running a bit ahead and then spreading her arms to try to stop me from getting past her.

New phone for me! Pretty exciting! And a pretty darn cute case too.

Always dunking.

Messy Max

First time drawing with calk. I have been putting it off for my own sake but he had so much fun!

I have been painting some nightstands for Tyler and I, and I got out a 2x4 and some paint so Millie could go to town painting too, but not on the furniture. (We do our painting during Max's naps) I apparently didn't put the bowl of paint high enough! It got all over his forehead because he tried to stick his head in the bowl to lick the paint. Lovely. Thank goodness his head is so big that he only got his forehead in! I love this messy boy.

Lazy mornings

As the weather gets warmer, we have to be careful about when we're outside. We don't last very long in the 3:00 heat! One of my favorite times to go outside (when we're having an at-home day) is in the morning, right after breakfast. We stay in our jammies a little longer than normal and I get to make my to-do list as the kids wander around the backyard. Life has gotten a little crazier for me lately so I'm trying to make our days calm and simple.

Playing with shadows

I didn't anticipate Max being almost just as able to ride the scooter as Millie is... they fight over this thing all the time!

First haircut

I'd been putting this off for a long time. Max has had a mullet for a couple of months, but I just couldn't cut it! I knew he would look so old and I wasn't ready for that yet. He had some shots at his checkup that gave him a fever off and on for a few days. One day he woke up drenched in sweat after his fever broke. His long hair was matted to his head and I decided we had to cut it right then! So we went outside and did it. Tyler held him while I used our little clippers to cut his hair. Love this handsome boy.

Before

After!

Millie kept saying, "Oh poor Max! I'm so sorry you got your hair cut!" as if it hurt or something. It was so funny.

We just couldn't stop staring at him for a few days. He looks so handsome (in my totally unbiased opinion)!

Spring break, part 2

We were planning on having Monday and Tuesday together before Tyler had to go back to work, but he ended up having a training downtown on Tuesday. So we made the most of Monday and got lots of little errands done. We had some fun too!

This was Millie's list of things to do, which she dictated to me. I think we did everything but go fishing!

Planning out how to use Tyler's vacation days over the next year.

We're excited for Tyler's next break! Is it May yet??

General Conference Weekend, April 2015 edition

We had a great conference weekend! We spent Saturday with the Andersens, and Sunday with the Juergens.

Saturday: we had donuts at home, went to Monka and Ampa's, ate cinnamon rolls, I sewed my Easter dress, and the kids hunted for eggs. Tyler went to the priesthood session with Poppy while I put the kids to bed early and cleaned the house.

Early morning donut run (aka, I got the kids out of the house so Tyler and Sarah could sleep a few minutes longer)

Max is shy but Tim is just a kid magnet. Max warmed up to him pretty quickly.

This boy was pretty quick, going after everyone's cinnamon rolls and the milk gallon.

Sunday: the kids found the eggs and baskets the Easter Bunny brought, we went to Gigi and Poppy's for breakfast (more cinnamon rolls - it was a game of "How much weight can one gain in a single weekend?"), enjoyed nice weather and hunting for more eggs, yummy lunch, and Max slept through both sessions. Pretty glorious.

Millie took out the contents of both baskets and lined them up just so. Such a funny girl. And yes, we left Max's birthday stuff up for a long time!

It was in the high 60s and Millie complained of being cold. Are we Texan or what?

"Mommy, take my picture!" then she strikes this pose. We're in trouble.

Sunday afternoon session... the pull is too strong and I pass out on Tyler's shoulder. Luckily they have the talks online!

We love General Conference!
