Houston Children's Museum

We went to the Children's Museum on Thursday evening, which is the free night there. It was pretty crowded, but apparently not as bad as it usually is! Good thing we went before school let out for the summer. We loved going with Nathan, Charlee, and Delilah!

Millie brought fruit snacks for both herself and Delilah. A must-have.

We neglected to get a picture of all of us together- this is as close as it gets when you're all trying to get somewhere in one piece with kids, I guess.

The museum has a little city called "Kidtropolis" where you can shop at the grocery store, "eat" at a restaurant, see the police station, go to the ATM, pretty much anything you can do in a city they have a play version of there. It was really cute.

There was a cute little outside area with cars and scooters and road signs.

You feel old when these toys you played with as a kid are literally in a museum!

Can you spot me and Max?

We had a great time at the museum!

A week off

Tyler has a bunch of paternity leave/vacation he has to use sooner than later so he doesn't lose it, so he's taking it in a few chunks over the summer! He took all of last week off and we had lots of fun. Monday was Memorial Day, which I already posted about. Tuesday morning we went to Max's doctor appointment, which I also already posted about! We spent the rest of Tuesday at home getting little things done. We also got some repairs done on my car- the battery died on Saturday! It was raining and kind of cold so it put a damper on some of our original plans. Oh well.

Wednesday morning we went to Tyler's doctor appointment (no more ingrown toenail!) and then visited Poppy at his office. He took us to Freebirds for lunch! YUM. We took Poppy back to work and then went to the Memorial City Mall for a bit. I went to YW's that night and Tyler stayed home with the kids.

Stretching out in a dressing room
Millie loves to "see the family with the doggie" in Old Navy

Thursday morning Tyler went downtown for a meeting and I had a YW meeting. After coming home and eating lunch we went to Gigi's and had the first swim of the year! The water was freezing thanks to all the rain we had on Monday and Tuesday, but it was so fun. Millie was nervous but will hopefully be back to her crazy, jumping-off-the-diving-board self in no time. Thursday evening we went to the Children's Museum with Nathan, Charlee, and Delilah! More on that later.

So happy James and Heidi are back from Europe!

Friday morning we tested out the new donut shop in the strip across the street from our neighborhood. They were okay, but we'll stick with Shipley's in the future. We sure had fun eating them at the park though!  Well, you know, until Max pooped all over himself and me. He and I walked home and each got a bath. After we were all cleaned up and ready we picked up Heidi and ran to Kohl's and Sam's Club for a few things, including lunch! Once we were done with our errands we were all pretty pooped. We came home and watched The Jungle Book.

Not really sure why....

Saturday we spent a good portion of the day organizing. Tyler and I each went through our closets and donated clothes that we don't wear anymore to Goodwill and I finally put away all the clothes that are too small for Max. Which is most of them. We also crossed off another item on the summer bucket list- Bahama Bucks! Both the kids fell asleep in the car so we enjoyed the whole snow cone to ourselves and drove around a neighborhood where we looked at a few houses back when we were house hunting. It was a fun and random little adventure. The snow cone was amazing. Bahama Rama Mama all the way for me (cream on top and Blue Bell on bottom), but Tyler's just a cream on top guy. We got a punch card started there and you'd better believe we'll fill it up fast!

Strawberry daquiri BRM. YUM.
So, I'd say it was a pretty awesome week together!! We are already counting down to Tyler's next vacation at the end of June.

Random things

Our 5th anniversary is coming up in a few months, and I just learned that Tyler can make tooting noises with his armpit. He still surprises me! I almost died laughing.

Sad story: some birds built a nest above our porch (AGAIN) and one Sunday we found 4 little baby birds! They looked like sock monkeys a little bit. Then 5 days later we opened the door and they were dead on our porch and it smelled horrible! So sad.

Tyler had a doctor's appointment and we decided to tag along. While he was in there Millie needed to poop and Max was hungry, so I just took both kids out to the car. I put a diaper on Millie and hopped in the backseat to feed Max (less visibility there). The car was running so that we could have the A/C on, and Millie was climbing around and pretending to drive and having so much fun! Wearing a diaper and no pants, of course. A doctor walked out of one practice and into another (there were quite a few offices in this little medical park). He looked and smiled at Millie and kind of stared for a second. He went inside and then came out again with a woman in scrubs, I assume a nurse. She walked closer and started looking in the car, in the backseat too. I was trying to wave and I guess she didn't hear me shouting "HI! She's not alone!", but I also felt awkward because I was nursing Max and the reason I was sitting back there was to not be seen! Anyway, she eventually saw me and was embarrassed and they went back inside. I'm sure they had contemplated calling CPS for a minute there! I was really glad to leave when Tyler was done.

The last few mornings I've brought Millie and Max into bed with me when they wake up and we just talk for a minute. I like this little quiet time before the day gets away from us.

Max at 2 months

Max had his 2 month checkup on Tuesday. Multiple people told us he looked like he should be there for his 4 month checkup! We love our big baby. Here are his 2 month stats:

Weight: 15 lbs 6 oz, 97th %ile
Height: 24.75", off the charts somewhere
Head: 16.18", 95th %ile

Some things we love about Max at 2 months:

-His big grin! It's such a contrast to his usually furrowed brow.
-He has finally figured out how to roll over in the last few days. Millie did it consistently at 5 weeks so I've been waiting for Max to do it too! It requires a lot of head momentum to get this big tubalub rolled over.

-The way he looks at Millie. He loves to watch her, and it's his favorite when she stays by him for tummy time!

-Maybe one of my favorite things about Max (or at least the one I'm most thankful for currently) is his ability to sleeeeep. He still naps at the same time as Millie, pretty much every day, and is a great sleeper at night too. His record is 11 hours straight! He gives me at least 8-9 hours each night. Not that I've ever taken advantage of it- most of the time I get up at some point to pump!- but it's all good.

We love our Max boy!

p.s. I couldn't help but look at Millie's 2 month stats when I went to write this. It's so fun to see them side by side at the same age!
