Family date

We had a fun family date last week. We explored the new boardwalk at Towne Lake (a nearby neighborhood) and ate at  MOD pizza. It was rainy but we didn't mind!

The sidewalks were super slippery in the rain and I was sliding all over in my worn out cheap flip flops. Tyler was so sweet to trade me shoes so I wouldn't fall.

Waiting for food is hard to do!

The kids love the bread sticks at MOD. It was fun to go somewhere and know that everyone would eat happily! We must be growing up!

Little things

The kids loved playing with Uncle Tim and Aunt Lauren while they were here. They are so fun!

Found this picture after a rough night where everyone ended up in the same bed. It's just too true.

The kids love to take the cushions off the couches lately and pretend they're rocks in a lake full of alligators. Can't touch the water!

A little popcorn picnic before bed one night. This was their treat after eating some new things at dinner. They are making progress on eating and I'm proud of them! We still have a looooong way to go but I'm happy with any improvements.

Millie woke me up and said "See that peach line Mom? It's the sun coming up. It's called a sunrise and it's prettier than anything."

I'm having a lot of "well this is the last time I'll wear this shirt for a while!" moments. My clothes are working real hard. I was 27 weeks here.

Forever trying to catch up to these two! We are having an occasional cool-ish morning here and there and it's wonderful.

Millie was sitting here all tired and quiet and Max plopped down next to her and asked "What are you sinking, Millie?"

Max loves the BYU stuff in his room! And they were both super excited to wear their Cougar gear on game day.

Having some time with the iPad while I exercised.

The first football game started at 9:30pm! We watched it at Gigi and Poppy's. My hope was that both kids would fall asleep before kickoff, but I had no such luck. Millie finally gave in around 10:20, and Max hung in there til halftime, I think 11ish!

While Dad was away

Tyler went out of town for a few days and we kept busy while he was gone.

Sunday dinner, casual breakfast edition. When we have waffles the kids like to eat them right there at the island as they come off the iron! They hang out with me while I make the whole bowl of batter. We freeze what we don't eat and heat them in the toaster later.

I've started walking with Sharon again and one day it turned into a run when it started pouring. The kids thought it was so funny and we all got soaked! 26 weeks pregnant in this pic. For some reason almost every bump pic I've taken this pregnancy has been around a workout... Not sure why but I promise I do get dressed and ready for the day sometimes!! And yes I'm missing a doorknob. All kinds of embarrassment in this picture.

First Christmas gift is underway. It was a little sad to cut such cute fabric into tiny strips like that! But it is making its way into a super cute rag rug.

Max started this thing where he clutches me/Tyler around the neck and begs you not to leave at bedtime. HOW do I say no to this???

We met Monka at Ikea and shopped (hooray for cheap picture frames!) and got ice cream cones of course.

We had fun in the cell phone lot, waiting for Tyler's plane to land. Millie spotted a rainbow!

Rain, rain go away

We've had a lot of rainy days lately (ironically, right after we paid to have our sprinkler system repaired). It abruptly ended our summer swimming, but we've had fun doing activities that don't involve water!

I saw the Skittle experiment floating around social media so we gave it a try and called it "science." If only every experiment was so delicious!

Took our umbrellas for a scooter ride when it was lightly sprinkling one afternoon. Max's rain boots are too big and kept turning backwards! It was so funny.

We also braved the outlet mall one afternoon since Monka, Tim, and Lauren were there. I got turned around as we were leaving and we ended up walking wayyy further than we should have to find our car. The kids were troopers.

We were feeling pretty cooped up one day and Grammy surprised us with a visit! It was so fun to see her. I took a pic of the aftermath - she brought the kids some new fun toys that kept them busy for a long time.

Trying cheese with his crackers. I'm so thankful that this boy is slightly more curious about food than his sister!

A nap with Dad on a Saturday afternoon. They really fell asleep holding hands!! Kills me.

We recently bought a computer (after going the last 2+years without one!) and I've been cleaning out my email inbox. This little folder I found reminded me of what we did before Pinterest! Hilarious!

A day at the office

On August 12 it was Bring Your Kids to Work Day! The kids were so excited to go to work with Tyler for the morning. They had such a fun time and now have a totally false idea of what Dad does at work all day! Haha

The kids got their faces painted (or arm, in Max's case), got balloon animals, had story time from the Houston Opera (random!), etc. Oh and snacks. Of course.

They had an Olympics theme. I'm sure the kids would give the day a gold medal!

Meanwhile, I went for a walk, sold some books at Half Price Books, and wandered around a few other stores. Completely alone. It was pretty glorious.

9 on 10: August 2016

1. Delaying the start of the day as long as possible.

2. Bedheaded breakfast helpers.

3. Finally got a king-sized quilt for our bed! The queen-sized one got annoying after a while. Now to put something on the wall, get king-size pillows for the shams that came with the quilt, and maybe clean off our nightstands! But don't count on it.

4. Reading break. Sometimes I feel a little claustrophobic when they're both snuggled in against my belly.

5. Wanted to remember his sweet face during his nap. Also notice Lightning McQueen, never far away.

6. Whenever I iron, Millie loves to drink from the squirt bottle.

7. Grammy got me these socks recently, and I smile every time I see them. It's nice encouragement, just kind of funny to have it come from a pair of socks! Tyler has a dad pair too.

8. Max really wanted to try cutting, and definitely preferred his left hand to do it! Crazy.

9. Our late-night visitor, who wanted to snuggle with Tyler but also have her own pillow.
