The in-between

We've had some really busy (and fun!) weekends lately, but some of my favorite moments are in between the big stuff.

Max loves waving to Millie while she's at gymnastics or swimming.

We're in that stage of motherhood where it's kind of a bad idea to wear my hair down or wear jewelry! I don't get postpartum hair loss until my kids start "losing it" for me.

Learning to sit up!

And blowing bubbles. Such a cute and funny age he's at.

It's crazy to think she used to fit in there, and that she's so grown up these days.

I have sooo many pictures of Harvey right before his baths. He's just so squishy and cute!

I feel like Max and Harvey have gotten a lot of my attention lately. While both boys happened to be asleep at the same time, I pulled out some nail polish and we had a little girl time. I also thought it might help her not bite her nails, but it didn't work as well on that front. Sure love this sweet girl.

Finally made good use of our new Costco membership. And finally replaced our vacuum.

A visit from Uncle Dodo

Mitchell came down to Houston for a couple of days recently. We were so excited to spend some time with him! We went to Gigi and Poppy's house after the arts festival and had a fun time swimming and going to Chuy's for dinner.

Max had to show Uncle Dodo all his dinosaurs.

We went back for dinner on Sunday and also enjoyed a walk to the lake/park. It was great to see him! We can't wait till the reunion in June to have the whole crew together!!

Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival 2017

We look forward to the arts festival every year! Millie had a soccer game early in the morning and then we headed up to The Woodlands to meet up with Grammy, Heidi, James, Wes, Uncle Russell, Aunt Pam, and Grey. Our first order of business when we got there was to march Millie straight to the back to go to the bathroom (even though we'd just gone at Grammy's house... gotta love kids) and then go to the Artopoly section for the kids.

The kids were so excited to paint rocks but then we found out this station was for painting a canvas. They were using the rocks to hold stuff down because it was super windy haha. One of the ladies let them paint rocks anyway. So nice.

They were so excited to get their faces painted. Millie requested a sunflower and Max wanted a dinosaur.

Max had a corn dog and fries and then was helping me finish my parmesan truffle fries. I love that this boy is an eater.

After last year's funny experience with the sand dollar rocks, Grammy took the kids back to that same artist and told him the story. All the grandkids got another stone and were pretty excited about it.

After a couple of hours we went back to Grammy's.

The waterway is beautiful!

Can't wait for next year!

Zoobilee

Since we bought a zoo membership for this year we decided to take advantage of the members-only night they have called Zoobilee. We picked Tyler up from work and had a snack while we waited for it to open. Once we finally got in the kids were so excited to show Dad everything! First up, as always, were the sea lions.

We saw lots of animals and the zoo had little "passports" that the kids could get stamped and then turn in for an ice cream sandwich. They also had bouncy obstacle courses. Millie and Max were being so cute while waiting in line for their turn.

Tyler is super dad!

One of the best parts of the evening was watching the baby elephants swim in their little pond. It was so cute. So many of the animals were awake in the evening, which was a nice change from the hot days when they're usually asleep.

The reptile house... why is this the kids' favorite? At one point Millie couldn't see the snake that was in a cage and after I showed it to her, she said, "Oh! It was camouflaged." I had no idea she knew that word. It was hilarious.

They had a cute mural for the kids to color.

These meerkats were wrestling and fighting like crazy and it was so funny to watch.

Some construction sent us home a different way than usual and I loved these trees shading the street. It was a fun night!

General Conference weekend, April 2017 edition

General Conference weekend is the best!

Unrelated, but I wanted to remember the way Harvey sits up in his carseat to look around. He's going to love facing forward one day!

Soccer game for these crazy Tigers.

The family that brought a snack for the kids pulled an awesome prank. They gave each kid a can of food! The kids were being so polite and said thanks but they looked so confused. It was hilarious. I'm not much of a prankster but this was such a fun idea. The kids were relieved to then get some Goldfish and a drink.

We went to get a Costco membership between sessions and ended up getting to Gigi's toward the end of the afternoon session. Lesson learned - never go to Costco on a Saturday! The kids wanted to swim. Max was playing with a sword and called himself a Nephite. Those Living Scripture videos are proving to be worth the investment haha.

Traditional cinnamon rolls came from a can this year.

Back at Gigi's for the sessions, Nana got to snuggle with Harvey.

A walk after lunch between sessions.

Max showed Harvey the dinosaurs.

We entered the phase where the blanket on the floor becomes obsolete.

Always looks like he's chewing on something in his mouth. Thank you teething.

That night we had popcorn while we played Candy Land and talked about what we learned and how we were going to be better because of it. We're so thankful to be able to learn from our church leaders in this way every conference!
