Max at 2 months

Max had his 2 month checkup on Tuesday. Multiple people told us he looked like he should be there for his 4 month checkup! We love our big baby. Here are his 2 month stats:

Weight: 15 lbs 6 oz, 97th %ile
Height: 24.75", off the charts somewhere
Head: 16.18", 95th %ile

Some things we love about Max at 2 months:

-His big grin! It's such a contrast to his usually furrowed brow.
-He has finally figured out how to roll over in the last few days. Millie did it consistently at 5 weeks so I've been waiting for Max to do it too! It requires a lot of head momentum to get this big tubalub rolled over.

-The way he looks at Millie. He loves to watch her, and it's his favorite when she stays by him for tummy time!

-Maybe one of my favorite things about Max (or at least the one I'm most thankful for currently) is his ability to sleeeeep. He still naps at the same time as Millie, pretty much every day, and is a great sleeper at night too. His record is 11 hours straight! He gives me at least 8-9 hours each night. Not that I've ever taken advantage of it- most of the time I get up at some point to pump!- but it's all good.

We love our Max boy!

p.s. I couldn't help but look at Millie's 2 month stats when I went to write this. It's so fun to see them side by side at the same age!

Memorial Day 2014

My expectations for this day were (and always are) very high. But when you have a great one like we did last year how could you not? We had a crazy storm on Memorial Day, making our plan to have our first swim of the year not work. It just dumped rain for a few days straight! There's still lots of standing water around almost a week later. I was bummed we wouldn't have the day I pictured, but oh well. Poppy still grilled up some really yummy burgers, and we enjoyed looking at pictures and hearing stories of Botz's Navy days.

Family run

We took advantage of a beautiful Saturday morning and went on a run, ending at the park.

Millie's been waiting for underdogs from me for a long time. I couldn't do them for a while, between being big pregnant and not being able to do this stuff

Max assumed his position-- sleeping!

Summer fun

I always love the beginning of summer! It is just so exciting, anticipating all the sunshine and fun. Here are a few pictures from our first water adventures of the year.

Ethan and Jared were nice enough to let Millie join them for their first swim in their pool!

We went to the splash pad and this is the only picture I took. It does accurately depict what she did the whole time: run around the water instead of play in it!

First swim at Gigi's house. Despite my efforts to remind her how much she loves to swim during the winter, we're going to have to ease into it. She hardly left that first step the whole time. On the plus side, I don't have to worry about her jumping in without me yet!

That right there is quite possibly one of my favorite pictures of Millie. Ever. That face kills me.

We're so glad summer is here!

Blast from the past

Recently, a little strip of shops opened up across the street from our neighborhood. We watched closely to see what would be there as each business came in- an insurance company, a dentist, a donut shop, Subway, and a Smoothie King, among others. The most unexpected place was a dojo- Young Brothers Tae Kwon Do, to be exact. My neighbor texted me recently and said she had talked to her son's instructor there and he knew Tyler! Sure enough, it was Tyler's Tae Kwon Do instructor growing up, Master McCluskey. We stopped by on Friday to see him and introduce the kids, since we hadn't seen him since our open house right after we got married. He was so sweet and couldn't believe Tyler has two kids. He showed us that he still has the picture of Tyler's group on the wall- it was fun to find Tyler in the group! I wish I could have seen him back in those days. I forgot to get a picture of them together, so I made Tyler smile with Master McCluskey in the background teaching! I loved hearing Master McCluskey go on and on about how great Tyler was at Tae Kwon Do (he is a third degree black belt! Watch out!) and how much he enjoyed having Tyler as a student. Millie loved watching the kids too- maybe Master McCluskey will have the next generation of Juergens in his class!

Got it!

Don't mind the spit up all over his shirt! I just love
Max's sweet smile.

Summer Bucket List

We are so excited for summer! Tyler has a lot of vacation/paternity leave he has to use over the next few months, so we plan to live it up. We have the tendency to want to do lots of fun things and then not really do them when it comes down to it. So we're trying to be better and schedule things ahead of time so we're not wondering what we should do each day. We have a calendar for each month of the summer up on our fridge and we're writing things in specific days so we can plan for them! Here's what we plan to do:

1. Houston Zoo
2. Children's Museum
3. Downtown Aquarium
4. Zube Park trains
5. Blue Bell factory tour
6. Sno cones at Bahama Bucks
7. Make s'mores
8. Day at the Woodlands w/Grammy
9. Beach day/Galveston
10. Drive-in movie
11. San Antonio trip for our anniversary
12. 5k race
13. Go fishing
14. Astros game
15. Jellystone Park

Then of course there's lots of parks and swimming- those will happen so often that I didn't give them a place on our list.

It's going to be a great summer!

Pizza on the patio

We were recently given some patio furniture. Thanks, Gigi and Poppy! As fun as the camping chairs were, we love having a table and nicer chairs that even rock. The backyard is shaded in the evenings so it feels great even when it's warm. We had our first dinner outside on Sunday and it was a perfect evening for it! We're looking forward to many more meals out there.

Then it (of course) evolved into a Disney jam session, dancing and all. It's impossible to say no when she comes up and grabs your hand, pulling and saying, "Dance wif me!"

Max and I watched

More Millie funnies

I've recently started working out again. I pulled out the post-natal boot camp disc on this Pregnancy Fitness set one day and Millie laughed as I did some of it. Ever since then she pulls it out and asks to watch the "Mommy movie."

First French braids! I've been waiting a long time for her hair to be long enough.

"See my shadow, Mommy? It's dancing crazy!" She has been obsessed with shadows lately- loving the during the day and fearing them at night.

We went to the church on Saturday night so Tyler could get some clerk stuff done and Millie started "typing" on this calculator, saying "I'm working just like Daddy!"

She recently likes to play/watch me play "the black monkey chasing the boy" game (Temple Run) or "the birdie game" (Angry Birds). She's pretty terrible at them because it's really rare that she even sees the iPad, but she likes it.

Capturing faces

I was trying to catch him smiling... it evolved from this

to this

to this!

Life is just hard sometimes, ya know? Hopefully I'll have better luck next time.
